We participated in a one-week short-term mission trip in Taiwan with our church members.  We also took the opportunity to visit old friends on CA, Tina's relatives, and Tina's childhood/college friends in Taiwan.

Visiting old friends in CA

Our host family #1 the Chengs: Three girls just woke up

Our host family #2 the Chans: Maddy enjoyed having mango/guava juice, something you can't get in North Carolina

Enoch and Tania graciously hosted the potluck for our Phileo Fellowship Group

VBS with Lin-nan Church in Taipei (more to come)

Lin-Nan member took the STM team to authentic Taiwanese breakfast place the first morning we were there

During morning assembly time, we taught kids silly praise songs

One of the group activities in the afternoon.  The local church had planned out wonderful events for the kids everyday from visiting the museum, skating, rock climbing, watching movies, etc.

Each teacher spent quality time with a few students whenever we can

STM members hogging the computer

Maddy not very amused with the activities for big kids

Hanging out with Tina's big uncle and his family in Taipei

Great-big-uncle's family treated us out to Taipei101

Maddy with mommy's cousins

Maddy was not impressed with the view

Two-day trip to Tai-chung; visited more relatives

Eating lunch at a nice Japanese restaurant with great-grandparents and uncle Jesse and uncle Philip

The sign has been at great ah-goon/ah-ma's house as long as mommy can remember!

Having dinner with all the relatives in Tai-chung.  Great big-auntie's treat!  Thanks!

In the lobby of our very nice hotel.  Maddy found someone with tummy bigger than hers!

We visited Tai-chung Port and daddy tried spicy sea-snails.

More crazy Chinese snacks mommy loves!

Very crowded and large fish market.  Amazingly there is no fish smell whatsoever.  All are fresh off the sea!!  Nevertheless, the weakest link daddy couldn't stand the heat.. had a huge pearl tea and a heat stroke after that!

We also visited East-Sea University where great little-uncle attended.  The Chapel is beautiful

The trail is sureal.. if not so hot

Dan-shui, where Tina grew up during her first 15 years; meeting up with old friends

Maddy's first experience of 'fishing' in the kiddy gold fish tank :)

Much has changed around Dan-shui, but the sunset is the same

Little alley to where mommy used to live

Mommy's childhoold best friend Anne met up with us for dinner; We were inseparable from age 5 to 15

Misc

Daddy ventured out to the computer-market by himself

Maddy was hot and cranky and fussy until she got the ice cold soy drink and finally happy!  She refused to share the bowl with us.

We're from the country side in North Carolina, and do not know how to deal with big city transit systems... had to ask a few times before we got to the right terminal.

Meeting up with mommy's old friend in college.. We got a free lunch and Maddy got baby pooh and baby tiger from uncle Richard.

Our host family live in the heart of Taipei, walking distance to EVERY major attraction.. even ah-goon's college

Little fountain at ah-goon's school.  Willow trees are pretty but the fountain itself is not so impressive.

Baby girl holding on to the pole in MRT

There was a pleasant surprise - an indoor playground at Taipei airport

Back to US with a brief stop at Pier 39 during the layover

Daddy and his Alcatraz

It go so chilly we had to buy sweatshirts in the middle of the summer!

Back to our regular routine

Maddy learned the infamous fake smile from daddy

Enjoying a nice stroll in the late afternoon

Daddy set up Maddy's computer desk and computer so she can watch 'Maddy video' and 'Maddy pictures' whenever she wants

Mommy's summer garden; all flowers survived while we were away

Mommy's hard work - dig and planted each one individually

Pretty purple color along the walkway
