Mount Shasta

Went up a small portion of Mt. Shasta, Sept. 3, 2000
Mount Shasta is 6.5 hours north from San Jose, CA.  It's quite a climb at about 8,000 ft in elevation with the summit at 14162 ft.

We ended up doing only about 2 hours worth of climbing on that day.  One of these days, we'll make it into a 2 day trip (it normally takes 9-10 hours to get to the top).

Unfortunately, it was overcast on the day we went.  The clouds hung right on top of our heads.

The others wouldn't admit it, but I felt the effects of the higher altitudes.  It was a lot easier to get tired.

Mt. Shasta has snow-capped peaks all year around.
