Baby Registry Experience

Posted in Pregnancy1 at 10:50 am by tina

The baby registry experience must have been the WORST shopping trip for both Joe and me. It was absolutely terrible. So there are like 20 differnet car seats in front of you. All of them look the same and they are all hard to use. We couldn’t get the darn thing off the base on any of them. Then there are like 100 different bottles and nipples. Agagn, they all look the same.. then the high chairs… Did I mention they all look the same? We both were very annoyed so just scanned the first thing we saw. Of course, half of the time the scanner doesn’t scan the thing right. Finally, we gave the list to the lady, and she puts all my stuff on a different Tina Chen. Well, by then, we were so frustrated that we just left. Later on I decided it would be responsible of us to put in the stuff we pick out on the right Tina Chen registry list…. then we found out that ALL the stuff we picked had really really LOW rating by other parents. What do you know… of course, we decided to just pick out stuff that other parents liked… so the whole trip was pretty much a waste. But our baby registry is finally done in BabyRUs.

More thoughts for Maddie

Posted in Pregnancy1 at 9:53 am by tina

I can’t believe that Maddie will come into this world in less than 12 weeks, and I can’t begin to fathem the changes Joe and I will have in our lives. I have so many hopes for Maddie: I hope she gets to see all big amazing wonders in the world. I hope she gets to enjoy all the beautiful little things like the bird chirping and blueberry muffins and walks to the bagal shop (our Sat morning routine). I hope she’ll make lifelong friends who are there to encourage and guide her. I hope she’ll know that life’s purpose is not to gather maternal possessions or store a huge amount of money in her banking account, but is to be a generous person who invests in relationships and being a blessing to people surrounding her. I hope she’ll never be tired of doing what is right despite of what everyone else is thinking or doing. Yet it is such a heavy responsibilities on both Joe and me. We’re not perfect and often I fall short of what I think I should be doing. At the same time, I am relieved that there is the perfect example whom Madison can look up to. How wonderful it is to know that none of us is alone in doing everything!!

Nursery Rhymes

Posted in Pregnancy1 at 8:22 pm by tina

I bought this Wee Sing for Baby Nursery Rhymes/games the other day because I was totally inspired by Marybeth. She has ENDLESS little nursery rhymes/games she pulls out from her head. Anyway, I started to listen to them and attempt to ‘memorize’ them. I have you know that they are not THAT easy to remember… and it’s quite silly because you have to know how to say/sing them the kiddy way. It doesn’t help that I had my childhood in Taiwan so I don’t know any nursery rhymes. Well, the only two songs I know are the “Two Tigers” and “Tricyle w/ a old lady”. Well, between learning the nursery rhymes and studying for CCNP… I don’t know which one is worse :)

Dancing baby

Posted in Pregnancy1 at 3:34 pm by tina

I’m not sure what was up with Maddy, but it felt like she had a solo dance party this morning. She was moving so much and so often that I can see little waves forming across my now very fat tummy. I often wonder who she’s going to look like, but I hope she has Joe’s nice sharp nose (well, not the allegies that come with it though).. perhaps she’ll have my dimples. Unfortunately, she’ll have a big butt, like her mommy and daddy ;)

Baby room III

Posted in Pregnancy1 at 1:15 pm by tina

Mommy Chen found a good compromise for Maddy’s window treatment. Daddy Chen wants yellow/green alternation and mommy wants a sheer butterly panel.. so now we have both, thanks to the add-on kits. There are two layers of curtains for Maddy. First the green, second the yellow and the sheer panel; therefore, it’s both pratical (when the room gets too much sun light and we can block it with two layers of curtains) and pretty (just the way mommy likes it). Mommy also found this mobile on sale (she’s very pround of her awesome find) which has the matching color as the rest of the room. Maddy’s room is almost ready. We just need to pick up the floor lamp and buy some shelves from IKEA… Then it’s just waiting for baby Madison to arrive!
