Maddy was fussy after 3:00am last night. After I breast fed her, she still seems SO hungry (yea, this mommy cow can’t keep up with her little piglet) While trying to burp her, she threw up on my hair and my shirt, then she screamed like she is about to starve to death while I changed her diaper. Finally, she’s half content with her formula. Just when I thought things might turn out ok, our other kid Brownie decided to pee in Maddy’s room. She started doing that just about two days ago… definitely out of jealousy and seeking attention.. Of course, I had to clean that up. By the time I finished cleaning and feeding Maddy, Maddy is totally awake and alert and stared back at me as if she’s waiting for me to entertain her. I wanted to yell and Brownie and Maddy, but was too tired to even do that (plus I knew better that it won’t do any good.. surprisingly my head is still working)
Anyway, I decided that I can’t handle putting Maddy in her crib at the time and having to deal with getting up every 15 mins to pat her and calm her down, so I gave in and rock her to sleep on our couch in the living room (did I mention that her room smells like dog pee pee now). She curled up and hugged me in her sleep. Brownie also jumped on the couch and lay down next to my legs.
They are so cute and so sweet when they sleep. We didn’t wake up until 7:30 this morning… totally messed up Maddy’s three-hour schedule. Oh well.

The Wee’s made a wonderful homemade dinner and brought it over and dined with us!
Since my carpal tunnel syndrome is getting worse, we’ve been pretty much eating out all the time, so it’s a nice change to eat at home.
Ethan is 11 months old now, but he seems so much bigger compared to Maddy. I remember just when he was born and he was as tiny as Maddy.
We chic chatted about all the little ‘complains’ we have with having a baby. It’s really nice having friends who went through the same thing. Everyone says that there is the end to the sleepless nights, and I’m looking forward to that. Of course, I’ll miss having Maddy as a little tiny cute angel!
Thanks Andrew and Linda for coming and keeping us company!

Our church small groups started the ‘Meals on Wheel’ to bring us dinner twice a week to help out with our hectic schedule today. We even had baby Araon (well, not baby baby any more) to ‘baby-sit’ Brownie and keep her company today. Joe and I are very thankful to we feel extremely blessed to have the extended family here to help us. Joe kept on saying ‘I love this church’ after dinner, but I think he really loved the yummy dinner that Ken/Christine brought us.

Since all the grandmas has left, we ‘re-started’ our training on Maddy with her skills to fall asleep by herself and calm down by herself. This is the third day mommy tried everything she knows and I’m beginning to think that Maddy is the 5% babies who are unable to be trained (according to baby wise, there are some babies fall into the untrainable category). Sometimes I get so tired, it’s so much easier to hold Maddy and have her sleep in my arm than getting up every 10-15 mins to calm her at her crib. Sometimes I think I’m being trained by my little stubborn baby.
Joe and I got some more gagets to try out.. a bouncer and a Baby Shakespear DVD. We’ll see if they help.

Maddy is one month old!! Time flew by when you’re on the three-hour feeding cycles
Maddy seems so much bigger and stronger than before, and already started to show her unique personality. She is such a wonderful bonus to us. I’m really thankful for all the help we get from both grandma during the past month, but most importantly, I’m grateful for having Joe by my side. From walking Brownie to washing dishes to helping with the feedings to just being next to me, I couldn’t have done it without him.
It’s pretty funny to see Joe as a ‘dad’. Not only he has the usual goofy daddy traits, he started to show the ’serious’ side of himself, which is totally unexpected. I thought I would be the mean cop of the family, perhaps daddy Joe is going to the mean cop after all. We’ll see.
Anyway, happy 1 month birthday, Maddy!!

Maddy has successfully been on the three-hour feeding schedule for three full days now, and we’ve also decided that it’s me to practice the feeding in public (better sooner than later), so we went to WestField Mall at Steven’s Creek after Maddy’s noon time feeding. We had our feeding in the food court at 3 and continued our shopping and hanging out at the bookstore until 6. It’s nice to get out of the house for a long period of time without stressing about coming back before the baby wakes up.
I highly recommand this book “Secrets of the baby whisperer” by Tracy Hogg, which is a more flexible and ‘humane’ version of the book Baby Wise (putting baby on the strict schedule). I love Maddy with all my heart, but I would definitely say that I don’t agree with letting the baby run my life or ditate what/when I do. Having a flexible schedule keep all of us in the family in sane and happy

All day I felt tired, but by five clock comes, I started to feel cold, light headed and bodyache. We found out later that I have a fever of 102.3. Not sure when exactly I got sick, but I guess Maddy broken me down
Grandma Young was really helpful to take over all the night feedings from me so I can get some needed rest. Thank you very much, grandma Young! Hopefully Maddy won’t drain her too much.

We started to try to put Maddy on the 3-hour feeding schedule and have her learn to ’self-smooth’ without being picked up. She cried cried cried and cried… the longest time she cried was one hour and ten minutes… pretty much cried all the way until her next feeding. I was all heartbroken to hear that little girl cry her heart out, but Joe reminded me that it’s for her own good. We know there is nothing wrong since she stops crying right away when I pick her up and then she will just stare at you as if she wins. Our Maddy is one little stubborn baby. On the other hand, I’m so proud of her. She is just like me. One stubborn mommy and one stubborn baby girl

Grandma Chang came to help from Aug 23rd to Sept 6th all the way from TN. I got some very needed rest while grandma Chang took care of Maddy, cook delicious meals, and cleaned our condo for us. The only bad thing about grandma Chang is that she has totally spoiled Maddy. At the first cooing sound Maddy makes, grandma Chang rushed to pick her up. Maddy is going to have a tough time getting used to entertaining herself later on.. but oh well, that’s what grandma is for. Thanks mom, for all the help you gave us!!

To thank grandma Chang’s hard work for the past two weeks, we insisted to take her out on the last night she’s here, so Maddy had her first restaurant outing to Todai’s. She is such a good girl that she let us finish eating before waking up to have hers. We had a really good time out!

Your cheeks are a little chubbier;
Your tummy is a more rounded;
I feel like a elementary school student, hoping to get the approval of the doctor tomorrow for feeding you well.
Another week has passed by, and I’ve getting used to and fell in love with you and all the chords that come with you:
You have my nose, my lips, AND my dimple
You have daddy’s butt, legs, and the big toe;
We don’t know where you got your beautiful long fingers, but I think they’ll make you an excellent piano player and a good volleyball player;
You teach me how to handle surprises by drinking your milk like a good girl then puking out everything everywhere afterwards…
You teach me not to worry about our material possessions by puking out everything everywhere (and mommy is a cleaning freak, well, used to be one)…
You teach me the value of patience by puking out everything everywhere and re-starting your feeding at 3:00 in the morning…
But when you curl up in your fetal position and falls sound asleep in my arms, all I care about is looking forward to your next feeding… so we can do it all over again.
