Maddy Day 4 and 5

Homeward bound, Aug 21st

Doctor cleared Tina to go home, so by 2pm Maddy got to see her new place and meet Brownie.

Maddy's been a pig in terms of eating.  She ate just about every 2 hours starting yesterday and each feed is about 30-45 minutes long.  Tina is starting to get pretty sore, needless to say.  Ah, joy of motherhood.  :)

One concern, doctor says she has some signs of jaundice, which is supposedly common, but should be watched.  We'll be going back to the hospital tomorrow to get an additional blood test for this.

First full day at home, Aug 22nd

Bit of a scare this morning.  We went to Kaiser's "newborn club" for a checkup and found she's dropped more weight than expected (5 lbs 6 oz now).   Thankfully it was caught early and now we're supplementing her diet with some formula.

Brownie initially looked confused at Maddy (especially when she crys), but she's been very gentle and understanding, albeit curious to the new addition.  She hasn't thrown any tantrums and just tries to get in her cuddling/playing time when we put Maddy to sleep.

We received lots of congrats and advice by email, calls and visits.  Thanks again, everyone.  We'll try to respond individually to each as our schedule eases (in 17 years... ha ha!).

Anna makes some ancient Chinese secret stew for Tina.
We would tell you what it is, but it's against the rules. :)
