Cheninfo Newsletter 2000

Dear friends and family,

It’s the time of the year when we send our greetings and update you on what’s going on in our lives this year again.  And what a wonderfully eventful year it was for us!!

It seemed like years ago, but we took our first scuba diving trip to Key West in the beginning of this year.  Tina was quite afraid of the open water, but she managed to enjoy very bit of it.

The Valentine’s Day 2000 was especially memorable to Tina because that was the day she received the offer letter from Cisco in San Jose, CA.  Within two weeks, Joe also got an offer from Cisco.  We give praises to God for His perfect timing and His continual faithful providence.  Joe and Tina are very happy to escape the heat waves of Texas and moved to the Golden State of California, even though it meant the departure from Pastor Morris, his family and the rest of the folks at our church.

California has its pros and cons.  It’s crowded, expensive, and full of people who only care for their stock options (oh well).  But the pros definitely outweigh the cons.  We LOVE the weather, the mountains, the air, and all the outdoor activities we get to do.  We took on the new hobby of hiking, and continued our other interests like rollerblading, jogging, tennis, and volleyball.  Joe and other guys started the “originally-friendly-but now-violent” roller hockey every Saturday morning.  Girls don’t play with the guys any more because they like to keep their teeth in place.

We hang out with Karen’s (Tina’s best friend) siblings and their spouses and other ex-Dallas friends like John and Greg during our free time.  It’s wonderful to have practically been adopted into their family and enjoy all the goodies with them.   We do the same things, go to the same restaurants, order the same things, and talk about the same things all the time.  So far, we haven't gotten tired of each other.  :)

One of the biggest praises we have is that we’ve found a home church Abundant Life Christian Fellowship.  This is the first time we joined a large multi-ethnic church and have a taste of what Heaven is like.  We’ve been moved by everyone’s faith, humbleness, and the genuine desire to share God’s love.  Pastor Paul Sheppard has a way to preach the truth in a plain yet meaningful way.

Anyway, we hope that you enjoyed the pictures we’ve included in this letter.  As always, you can check us out at www.cheninfo.com and find out everything that’s going on in our lives.  We also hope that at this busy time of sending out Christmas cards and buying the gifts for each other, you will remember the true reason we celebrate this season.

God Bless!
