Cheninfo Newsletter 2002

Hi everyone,

My mommy and daddy are too lazy this year, so they made me write the newsletter and to tell everyone what’s been going on in our household.

Mommy and daddy love California. They did a lot of skiing with different friends in the Lake Tahoe area. I don’t mind the slope (see video clip), but I don’t really like the ski lift at all.

When it’s not the ski season, we do a lot of hiking as a family. Our official family trail is the Pipeline Trail in one of the famous Redwood forests at Santa Cruz. I can hike the whole 6 miles by myself. My favorite part is the little creek where I learned how to swim and the McDonald’s ice cream cone after the hike. Daddy picked up his new hobby of GeoCaching. It’s a geeky thing where you find treasures other people hid with a GPS. Daddy isn't too good at it; he almost killed mommy and me on our first treasure hunt.

But daddy did something that made us very proud. He did TWO triathlons. Ok, two mini-size triathlons. We were afraid that daddy was going to drown during the first leg of the competition, but he pulled through beautifully at the end.

Oh, and daddy planned a surprise trip for mommy’s 30th birthday. All of mommy’s good college buddies met up at San Diego to mourn the sad day, but mommy was very happy to step into her big day with all her close friends. And I, Brownie Love Chen, turned 1 this year!! Here is a picture of mommy and me and my cake.  Don’t you think mommy and I look alike? Mommy said that not only do I take after her cute look, I also take after these traits: we’re both impatient, stubborn, and competitive. Nevertheless, I’m a fearless watch dog. Everybody is safe with me guarding the door.

Anyway, mommy and daddy started to go to a different church now. They were having a tough time finding ministries to serve at their old mega-church. They now go to Chinese Church in Christ (in Mountain View). Daddy is teaching the junior high on Wed nights, and mommy helps with one of the worship teams. They’ve gotten to know their young adult group pretty well and are very thankful for finding a wonderful home church.

Many of mommy and daddy’s friends and relatives either got married or had their first kids this year. Patricia/Howard, Tony/Maureen, Viv/Geoffery, Anne/Laurence, and Frank/Jamie: congrats on your marriage! Enoch/Tanya, Ken/Christine and Andrew/Linda: congrats on being first time parents!

On top of all that excitement, a whole bunch of our friends/families came to visit us throughout the year. The list is too long, so you’ll just have to check them out at www.cheninfo.com under 2002 pictures. We love having visitors, so please make plans to come to our home in 2003. We’d love to have you!

 Merry Christmas to you all!

  Yours,

                      Brownie
